A wide range of Private orthodontic treatment is available at Forfar Dental Care with Abercrombie Orthodontics. Costs for Orthodontic treatment can be found under the Fee section and these include any records we take at the start and end of treatment, all the regular appointments to adjust the brace during the course of treatment and a set of fixed retainers and a set of removable retainers at the end of treatment.
Fixed metal braces are made of stainless-steel brackets which are attached to the tooth and a metal wire runs through it with an elastic band/ring securing it. The elastic bands/rings come in different colours which can be changed at every visit. This type of brace is suitable for both children and adults.
We provide clear/white braces which are tooth coloured and made of ceramic, offering a more aesthetic value and are suitable for conscious teens and client- facing adults. The tooth or white colored brackets are less noticeable in mouth and the addition of white coated wires (additional cost) can also be done to further improve overall the cosmetic appearance.
This type of orthodontic treatment uses a series of removable clear aligners to correct the position of your teeth. They are made of thin clear plastic, fitting snuggly around your teeth and similar to gum shields. We use Invisalign® aligners at Abercrombie Orthodontics.
We are able to provide NHS treatment for Orthodontics if you are less than 17 years old. Eligibility for NHS treatment depends on the Index of Orthodontic Treatment Need (IOTN) score, which is according to the dental health needs. Braces offered under the NHS include removable braces and metal fixed braces and a set of removable retainers at the end of treatment. WE ONLY OFFER THIS TO REGISTERED NHS PATIENTS AT FORFAR DENTAL CARE, THERE IS A WAITING LIST AND WE ARE LIMITED TO TREATING A LIMITED NUMBER OF PATIENTS.
Fixed metal braces are attached to the tooth and a metal wire runs through it with an elastic band securing it. The wire exerts force to the tooth through the brace to move the teeth straight. This type of brace is suitable for both children and adults.
Removable braces can be removed from the mouth and worn by the patient. They are designed to correct simple tooth irregularities or sometimes as the initial stage of treatment before the fixed brace treatment in children. Removable braces are made of hard plastic with metal components and should be removed for cleaning and sports.
