Inhalation Sedation

(HAPPY GAS/LAUGHING GAS)

Inhalation sedation, commonly referred to as “laughing gas,” is a safe, gentle, and effective method to help patients feel calm and relaxed during dental treatments. This technique involves breathing in a mixture of nitrous oxide and oxygen through a small, comfortable mask placed over the nose. It works quickly to ease anxiety, reduce discomfort, and create a sense of calm without putting the patient to sleep.

For individuals of all ages, including children and nervous adults, inhalation sedation can transform a potentially stressful dental visit into a smooth and stress-free experience.

Our Inhalation sedation clinics are led by Dr Alex Blair, with nursing support from our inhalation sedation trained nurses. Feeling comfortable and confident at the dentist starts with being heard—and that’s exactly what we focus on. Your first appointment is always a friendly, informal chat, giving you time to share your thoughts and ask any questions you have. You decide how things move forward, and we’re here to guide and support you every step of the way. For those who would like some extra help feeling at ease, we offer inhalation sedation—a safe and gentle way to feel calm and in control throughout your treatment. We believe in creating a relaxed, reassuring environment where you feel ready, supported, and comfortable from the moment you walk through the door.

We have helped and supported many patients through their treatment journeys. Many have shared their experiences and feedback for you to read; if you would like to read more from our other successful patients, please let us know!

Dental sedation explained

Dr Alex is able to use inhalation sedation to help you feel more at ease during your treatments. Unlike general anaesthetic, it won’t put you to sleep – you’ll still be conscious and able to speak with your dentist, but you’ll be deeply relaxed, feeling no discomfort or pain.

You’ll likely have very little memory of the procedure, and no memory = no pain. Dental sedation is not just reserved for invasive procedures; anxious patients can opt to have more routine procedures like hygiene treatments or restorations like fillings.
